Today I am thankful for....

...music!
Makes the work day that much more fun.

Day 30 - 1/30/12 By Your Side

Everybody needs a desk friend!

Thank you, Andrew :)

Day 29 - 1/29/12 Best of Luck

Sunday afternoon the girls of my single's group treated the boys to dinner.
We set a casual atmosphere and served cheeseburger meatloaf, mashed potatoes, asparagus, rolls and salad.
The appetizers were the fabulous heart-attacks-on-a-stick (bacon-wrapped little smokies with a brown sugar glaze) and for dessert there was the choice of peanut butter brownies or a brownie/ice cream/hot fudge combo.
After the meal we played a quiz game geared towards the guys, with categories like cars, movies, sports, etc.
I bought $.99 picture frames from the thrift store on Saturday that worked well for inexpensive white boards.
In two weeks the guys will reciprocate.  Should be fun!

Day 28 - 1/28/12 Taste of Chocolate

I had lots of ideas for picture-taking before Saturday, but on the actual day I got busy and distracted and took only three.
For shame!
But I had a great time thrift-store shopping in Ballard, Shoreline and Edmonds with friends.

And at our stop at Theo's where we tasted and purchased yummy chocolate.

Day 27- 1/27/12 Addicted

I can't help myself!!

Today I am thankful for....

...ice scrapers!

Family Friday - 3

I have to admit that I'm not entirely pleased with how today's Family Friday print turned out.  I know I can do better.
But I'm posting it anyway!
I am, however, entirely pleased with the subject of today's print...

Kiri!

I am also thinking I'm going to have to write a bit about each subject.
Starting next week.

Today I am thankful for....

...paper.  Paper on which to write, print and draw.

Day 24 - 1/24/12 Bluebird

I did nothing productive yesterday! Nothing outside of work, that is.  So the only pictures I took were of two of the resin pieces that I thought turned out the best.

The blue flower.
And the bird with the yellow flower.
So cute!

Today I am thankful for....

...my red pen.  I love correcting!

Day 23 - 1/23/12 Reflecting Light

Sunshine today!
On a Monday, no less.
I was working when all of a sudden I noticed light sparkling across my wall reflecting off of my most sparkly necklace :)

Monday, January 23, 2012

Today I am thankful for....

...the ice melting away!  It's slippery out there!

Day 22 - 1/22/12 Oh My Goodness

Lunch after church with friends at the delectable Maltby Cafe!
I got the Smoked Salmon Benedict with red potatoes and it was delish!

Day 21 - 1/21/12 Sitting, Waiting, Wishing

Sitting...at the table and working with resin on this calm Saturday afternoon.
I assembled beads, trays, fabric, needles, brushes, plastic spoons, the resin mix.

I cut fabric circles, squares and rectangles to fit the silver trays.  (Sorry for the poor quality of some of the pictures!)
Then sealed all the fabric with Mod Podge.
Mixed up the resin while the fabric was drying.
Then spooned in enough mix to cover the bottom of the trays.  And then some.  I had forgotten it was only supposed to be just enough to cover and one overflowed.  I'm out of practice!
The fabric goes in next.
 Then more mix.
I added an anchor bead to this tray.
And used a pin to pop the little bubbles.
Now I'm Waiting 24-48 hours for them to dry, all nicely covered so dust will not stick to their surfaces.
And Wishing they'll turn out okay!  I already noticed a missed bubble in the anchor piece, and the yellow flower/pink beaded one in the center overflowed (and looks like fish eggs, according to my sister!), but that's alright.  I'll just have to practice again another day!

Day 20 - 1/120/12 Details in the Fabric

Quiet Friday evening quilting and watching The Two Towers.

Today I am thankful for....

...waterproof boots!

Family Friday - 2

For Family Friday this week I present...

Lynnie!

I couldn't decide if I preferred the blue on yellow,
or gray on aqua.  So here are both.

Day 19 - 1/19/12 Yesterday Once More

Being trapped inside today provided opportunities for more crafting!
Melita worked on a super secret new project.
I can't wait until it is complete!
We hung up pictures (an birthday card from Aunt Beth, a painting my brother Trevor brought back from Brazil).
I tried to do a little crocheting, but with no success.  But the yarn is pretty.
And that left more time for silk screen printing.

I need to get a light table!

Spent plenty of time watching movies, in this case North and South (Mave you seen it??  Three+ hours of melodrama in dark, dreary northern England where nearly everyone dies... Love it!)
Topaz was very helpful.
Time to tidy the laundry?? Yes.

And then there was a little time left over to appreciate the ice and snow before it melts away!
 Okay, a lot of time.

All in all, a perfect snow day.

Day 18 - 1/18/12 A Beautiful Mess

Worked on bills today.
And organized a year's worth of paperwork.

 Out with 2011.
In with 2012!

Day 17 - 1/17/12 Grey Dusk of Eve

I left work early today in anticipation of worse weather on Wednesday and was able to stroll around the neighborhood.

I couldn't help but imagine Frosty meeting an untimely end when I saw the branch below:
